Training Bookings

CutTool Sharpening offers practical workshop training for tool care, sharpening checks and regrinding basics, with starter kit options for day to day maintenance. Sessions are useful for small workshops, home users and production teams that need cleaner cuts and longer tool life.

How to book a training session

Training bookings are handled through our contact page enquiry form. Tell us what tools you use, where you are based, and whether you want training for one person or a small team. We work from Pinetown, and we regularly assist clients in Durban, Westville, Hillcrest, Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town through courier collection and scheduled support.

When you send your enquiry, include the following so we can match the session to your needs:

  • Tool type, such as saw blades, drills or router bits
  • How many people will attend
  • Whether you need basic maintenance training or a more advanced session
  • Any recurring problems like burn marks, chipped edges or uneven cuts
  • Whether you want starter kit advice at the same time

What the workshop training covers

Our sessions focus on real workshop work, not general theory. Sibusiso Mthethwa and the team take you through the checks and handling steps that help keep cutting tools in good condition. That includes safe inspection, correct storage, wear spotting and when a tool should be sharpened, re-ground or retired.

Depending on the tools you use, training can cover:

  • Saw blade cleaning and wear inspection
  • Drill sharpening checks and edge condition
  • Router bit care, chip damage and burn mark prevention
  • Angle resetting and balance checking
  • How to package tools for courier collection without damaging cutting edges

Starter kit options for regular maintenance

Many clients prefer to leave training with a starter kit for basic maintenance. These kits are set up for practical use in a small workshop, garage setup or production area. We can guide you on what to include based on the materials you cut, how often you work, and whether your tools face dust, moisture or heavy daily use.

A typical starter kit may include:

  • Cleaning items for pitch and residue removal
  • Inspection aids for edge wear and chipped teeth
  • Storage and tagging supplies for batch tool control
  • Basic handling items for safe packing and transport
  • Notes on when to send tools in for sharpening or regrinding

If you work near the coast, especially around Durban, moisture control matters more than people think. Tools stored poorly can pick up surface rust quickly, so we also show you how to manage that.

Who should book training

Training is suitable for hobby users, small contractors, joinery shops, maintenance teams and busy workshops that want fewer interruptions from dull tools. It is also useful for staff who handle tool storage, packing or dispatch. If you are based in Pinetown or nearby areas like Westville and Hillcrest, an in person session may suit you well. For other parts of South Africa, we can arrange practical guidance alongside courier collection of tools that need service.

You should consider booking if you notice any of these signs:

  • Cut quality is dropping from one job to the next
  • Blades are burning timber instead of cutting cleanly
  • Drills are wandering or requiring more force
  • Router bits are leaving rough edges
  • Tools are being replaced too often because wear is not being tracked

How courier collection fits into training bookings

When a training booking includes tool servicing, we can coordinate courier collection from Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town, as well as surrounding areas. This helps when you want the training to cover actual tools from your own workshop. Our courier collections coordinator arranges the booking, then the tools come through for inspection, sharpening or regrinding.

This approach works well for batch jobs too. If you have several saws, drills or router bits in one group, we can tag them, track them and return them in order. That makes it easier to match each tool back to the correct machine or job type.

What happens after you send the enquiry

Once your enquiry comes in, Ayesha Naidoo and the operations team review the details and confirm the best booking option. If we need more information, we will ask for it through the contact page enquiry process. We aim to keep the steps simple: you tell us what you need, we confirm the booking, and then we plan the session or collection.

For a smooth booking, have these details ready:

  • Your town or suburb
  • Type and quantity of tools
  • Preferred booking date or timeframe
  • Whether you need servicing, training or both
  • Any urgent issues, such as chipped edges or heavy burn marks

From there, Thabo Dlamini and Johan van Zyl handle the technical side while Lerato Molefe supports the training content. If you are not sure what your workshop needs, we can still help you choose the right option.
